Jessamine County EMS Careers

HIRING PROCESS:
Each candidate will complete a written exam, physical agility test, grip strength test, and oral interviews.
Grip Strength Test: Each candidate will complete a grip strength test as required by insurance regulations. Any candidate who fails this test will automatically fail the testing date.
Written Exam: Consist of approximately seventy five EMT-Basic questions. These questions are pulled from the most current edition of an EMT-Basic instructor's manual. All levels of providers will complete the same exam.
Oral Interview: An oral interview will be conducted of each candidate. The interview committee typically consists of an EMS supervisor, Fiscal Court representative, and another first responder.
Physical Agility Test: Each candidate must complete our physical agility test in less than 5:30 (five minutes and thirty seconds). Any candidate who has current CPAT card will be exempt from this requirement (proof must be supplied with application). Click here to view the video of the test. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for all aspects of care to the critically ill and injured, providing both basic life support and advanced life support care. The EMT-B and /or Paramedic will be responsible for both emergency and non-emergency patients transports, while working in a team environment and projecting a positive attitude. Must understand all applicable legal, moral and ethical issues surrounding the emergency medical services Must have excellent judgment, be able to prioritize decisions, and act quickly in the best interest of the patient.
POSITION REQUIRMENTS:
EMT-B Qualifications: Shall be a certified Emergency Medical Technician in good standing . Certifications in CPR, HIV-AIDS, Bloodborne Pathogens, High School Diploma and or equivalent, Good Driving Record, Kentucky License, At least 18 years old. NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 Salary: $24,128 annually.
Paramedic Qualifications: Shall be a Licensed Paramedic in good standing. Certifications in ACLS, PALS and/or PEPP, BTLS and/or PHTLS. CPR, HIV/AIDS, High School Diploma and or equivalent, Good driving record, Kentucky Drivers License. At least 18 years old. NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 Salary: $30,817.28 annually.
