A 17-year-old female Providence School student is in critical condition at the University of Kentucky Hospital after the car she was driving collided with a lumber truck on U.S. 27 Monday afternoon.
The teenager was driving south on U.S. 27 a few minutes past noon when the Nissan Altima she was driving crashed into the left side of the truck, which was turning left from Catnip Hill Road. A 36-year-old female passenger in the car was uninjured. The driver of the truck was also unhurt. The truck sustained only minor damage.
Monday morning rain caused wet road conditions, and a police report listed a slippery road as an environmental factor in the accident.
